Hiring Managers
Connection Request
Please help me.”
“Hello David, I saw your post about using AI in small businesses. I am learning AI automation in Pakistan and found your example about customer support very useful. I would be glad to connect and learn from your work.”
Connect
“Thank you for connecting, Sarah. I enjoyed your recent post about remote team management. I am learning how international teams work and will continue following your insights.”
“Your point about written communication is especially important for remote teams. In Pakistan, many young remote workers focus on technical skills but ignore reporting and communication. I think teaching both together can improve retention.”
“I noticed you are exploring South Asian markets. I prepared a one-page summary of the Pakistani market for your product. I hope it is useful.”
“I noticed the contact button on your mobile website is not opening correctly. It may be reducing inquiries. I recorded a 40-second screen video showing the issue and a possible fix.”
“Your video explains the product clearly. One possible improvement would be adding a 15-second customer example at the beginning, because new viewers may not immediately understand the result.”
- 5 Profiles
- 5 Personalized Requests
“AI and Digital Marketing Student | Helping Small Businesses Create Content and Find Leads”
- Copy-Paste Message
Connection Request
LinkedIn International Networking: A Complete Guide
Millions of people around the world run businesses, work at companies, and build new technology — and many of them are on LinkedIn. But most young people in Pakistan see it only as a job-hunting website. In reality, LinkedIn international networking is one of the most powerful ways to learn, find mentors, land remote jobs, and reach international clients — once you know how to do it right.
LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional networking hall. Here you can connect with people who can teach you a new skill, become your mentor, offer you a remote job, become your client or business partner, or introduce you to another important person.
But a relationship isn’t built by writing “Hello Sir, I need a job.” A real connection forms when you first understand the other person, then add value to their work, and build trust over time.
Why Connect With People Outside Pakistan?
Living in Pakistan, our thinking, information, and opportunities often stay limited to our own city, country, and immediate circle. When we connect with people from other countries, we learn what skills the world actually needs, how companies operate, what problems exist elsewhere, where remote jobs are emerging, and how much our own skills are really worth globally.
For example, a video editor in Pakistan might earn 40,000–60,000 rupees for a job. But if that same person solves a problem for a business owner in the US, UK, Dubai, Australia, or Europe, they can earn far more for the exact same skill.
The real benefit isn’t just more money. It’s that your thinking, language, confidence, standards, and understanding of the world all grow.
Who Should You Connect With on LinkedIn?
Sending requests to every foreign profile you find isn’t useful. Connect thoughtfully — with people relevant to your work, skill, interest, or future goals.
1. Experts in Your Field
If you’re learning video editing, connect with video production experts, YouTube managers, content creators, podcast producers, and marketing agencies. If you’re learning software development, reach out to CTOs, software engineers, startup founders, product managers, and tech recruiters. If you’re learning sales, connect with sales directors, appointment setters, business development managers, agency owners, and B2B founders.
2. Owners of Small and Medium Businesses
The CEO of a large company may not have time to reply to your message. But the founder of a company with 5, 10, 20, or 50 employees is often handling problems personally. They need people who can improve their website, run social media, find leads, edit videos, provide customer support, do research, or save time with AI. These people can become your mentor, client, or employer.
3. Recruiters and Hiring Managers
Connect with recruiters who hire for remote jobs, international positions, virtual assistants, software developers, designers, marketers, or customer support staff. But don’t just send your CV — read their posts first and understand what skills they’re actually looking for.
4. People Interested in Pakistan or South Asia
Some people outside Pakistan are genuinely interested in Pakistan, outsourcing, emerging markets, education, AI, or social impact. Connecting with them can be easier, since they already have some curiosity about the region.
5. People You Can Genuinely Learn From
Not every connection needs to lead to a job or money. Some connections exist purely for knowledge, perspective, advice, and exposure. Sometimes a single piece of good advice can save you years.
How to Send a Connection Request
The biggest mistake is sending hundreds of blank requests. The second mistake is writing: “Hello Sir, I need a job. Please help me.” Why would a stranger meet your need? They don’t know you at all.
A better approach: look at the person’s profile first, read at least 3 of their posts, understand their work, then write a short, specific message.
Example:
“Hello David, I saw your post about using AI in small businesses. I am learning AI automation in Pakistan and found your example about customer support very useful. I would be glad to connect and learn from your work.”
This message works because you named the person, referenced their specific post, made your intention clear, and didn’t ask for a job right away. A good connection message has three parts:
- Where did I see you?
- What did I like about your work?
- Why do I want to connect with you?
Keep it short — 40 to 70 words is enough.
What to Do After Connecting
Don’t ask for a job or client the moment your request is accepted. It’s like meeting someone for the first time at an event and immediately saying “give me money or a job.” Good relationships build gradually. Start with a short thank-you message.
Example:
“Thank you for connecting, Sarah. I enjoyed your recent post about remote team management. I am learning how international teams work and will continue following your insights.”
Then leave genuinely useful comments on their posts. Don’t just write “Great post” or “Nice information” — write a comment that adds value to the conversation.
Example:
“Your point about written communication is especially important for remote teams. In Pakistan, many young remote workers focus on technical skills but ignore reporting and communication. I think teaching both together can improve retention.”
This kind of comment shows the person you think, understand, and can contribute meaningfully to the conversation.
💡 Practical tip: Be mindful of time zones with international contacts. Check what time it is in their country before sending a message — messages sent late at night or on their day off are often overlooked.
How to Add Value to an International Connection
Many people think: “I don’t have money, I don’t have much experience — what value can I offer to bigger, more established people?” In reality, value isn’t only about money. You can be useful in several ways:
1. Do Research for Them
Suppose someone wants to understand the Pakistani market. You could prepare a short research summary for them — demand for a product, local pricing, competitors, customer opinions, or potential partners.
Example:
“I noticed you are exploring South Asian markets. I prepared a one-page summary of the Pakistani market for your product. I hope it is useful.”
2. Improve Their Content
If they’ve published a good article or video, you could create a short summary, an Urdu translation, five social media posts, a thumbnail idea, or a short video clip. It’s best to ask permission first, especially before publishing anything under their name.
3. Point Out a Problem Respectfully
If their website has a broken link, a broken mobile page, or a non-working contact form, send them a short message — but don’t just point out the problem, offer a fix too.
Example:
“I noticed the contact button on your mobile website is not opening correctly. It may be reducing inquiries. I recorded a 40-second screen video showing the issue and a possible fix.”
4. Introduce Them to a Useful Person
If you know someone who could help them, introduce the two. Good connectors are extremely valuable in any network.
5. Give Thoughtful Feedback on Their Content
Example:
“Your video explains the product clearly. One possible improvement would be adding a 15-second customer example at the beginning, because new viewers may not immediately understand the result.”
This kind of feedback is far more valuable than generic praise.
6. Create a Small Sample of Your Work
If you’re a designer, create a sample graphic. If you’re a video editor, do a 20-second sample edit. If you’re a copywriter, rewrite one headline on their website. If you’re learning AI automation, show a small workflow. But don’t spend hours doing free work for everyone — give just enough of a sample to demonstrate your ability.
How Giving Value Creates Value for You
When you repeatedly add value for someone, they stop seeing you as just another LinkedIn connection — they remember you as capable, reliable, and genuinely useful. Over time, that can lead to a job recommendation, a freelance project, an introduction to a friend, useful advice, a shared post, a spot on their team, or even a business partnership.
But none of this happens instantly.
🌳 A network is like a tree. Today you plant the seed, then water it, then protect it — and over time it bears fruit. Someone who demands fruit on day one usually kills the relationship before the tree can even grow.
The Daily Practical Method
Every young Pakistani should try this 30-day experiment: send 5 connection requests to relevant, non-Pakistani professionals every day — roughly 150 new professional connections in 30 days. But the number alone shouldn’t be the goal. Each day:
- Look at 5 profiles
- Read at least 3 posts from each profile
- Send 5 personalized requests
- Leave 3 useful comments
- Add value to one existing connection
- Publish one good post per week
Over 30 days, you’ll send around 150 requests, gain roughly 40 to 80 new connections, leave 90 useful comments, add value for 30 people, and publish 4 of your own posts.
Not everyone will respond. Some will decline your request, some will read your message and stay silent — that’s completely normal. Your goal isn’t to impress everyone; it’s to build real relationships with the right people.
📝 A simple way to track progress: keep a short daily log in a notes app or spreadsheet — requests sent, comments made, and who responded. After 30 days, this makes it clear which approach is actually working for you.
Fix Your Profile First
Before connecting with people outside Pakistan, make your LinkedIn profile clear. Within 10 seconds of viewing it, someone should understand: who you are, what you’re learning, what work you can do, who you want to help, and why they should get in touch.
Your profile should include: a clean professional photo, a clear headline, a short about section, skills, projects, work samples, accurate contact information, and a custom LinkedIn URL — which makes your profile look more professional.
“Student at XYZ” is a weak headline. A simple formula to remember: [what you do] + [who you help] + [how].
Better example:
“AI and Digital Marketing Student | Helping Small Businesses Create Content and Find Leads”
Don’t present yourself as something you’re not — but make sure your current ability comes through clearly.
Five Mistakes to Avoid
- Asking for a job immediately — build the relationship and trust first.
- Sending copy-paste messages — write at least one specific line for each person.
- Faking experience — never claim a skill you don’t actually have.
- Messaging repeatedly and annoying people — if there’s no reply, one follow-up after 7–10 days is enough; then move on respectfully.
- Only trying to take — always ask yourself: “What simple, useful, specific thing can I do for this person?”
Why Will the World Give You a Chance?
The world won’t give you a chance just because you belong to a particular country, have limited resources, are a student, or need a job. The world gives you a chance when it sees that you can learn, that you’re trustworthy, that you respect time, that you can communicate, and that you can solve a problem.
Your nationality may be your introduction, but value is what truly defines you.
The Vision
The vision is simple: every young Pakistani having at least 100 meaningful international connections on LinkedIn — people who know them, have seen their work, understand their ability, and are willing to work with them or recommend them when needed.
Imagine if ten million young Pakistanis each connected meaningfully with 100 useful people worldwide — that’s one billion professional connections between Pakistan and the world. These wouldn’t just be connections; they’d be pathways to knowledge, jobs, trade, investment, friendship, collaboration, and new businesses.
Don’t just scroll on Facebook and LinkedIn. Meet the world. Understand people. See their problems. Add value. Show your work. And build trust, gradually. Give value first — reputation follows, then opportunities, and eventually those connections create value for you too.
The world is vast, and the opportunities are many — but the first step is yours to take: today, find five right people, read their work, and build one real connection with respect.
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the biggest benefit of connecting with people outside Pakistan on LinkedIn?
You get accurate insight into global skills, jobs, and opportunities, and your thinking, confidence, and communication skills improve — value that goes far beyond any single paycheck.
How many connection requests should I send per day?
Around 5 specific, personalized requests a day is enough. Focus on quality over quantity — read at least 3 posts before sending each request.
What should I do if someone doesn’t reply to my message?
One polite follow-up after 7–10 days is enough. If there’s still no response, move on respectfully — repeated messaging damages the relationship instead of helping it.
How can I add value with no experience or money?
Short research, useful feedback, spotting a problem and offering a fix, or a small sample of your skill — these are all free, effective ways to add value for someone.
What should I avoid writing in a connection request?
Asking for a job or money right away, sending a generic copy-paste message, or exaggerating your experience — all three tend to end a relationship before it even starts.
Can international LinkedIn connections actually lead to jobs or clients?
Yes, but not instantly. After consistently adding value and building trust, recommendations, freelance projects, and job referrals become a natural result over time.
